Richard LeBer
President and CEORichard LeBer has been president and CEO of the Harry Chapin Food Bank since February 2016. Since then, he has led the food bank to new records in sourcing and distribution of food to the Southwest Florida community it serves.
Richard has a long career of community involvement, transformation and impact, with deep experience in the for-profit and nonprofit sectors, particularly food banking, fundraising, board leadership, strategy and operations. Richard has held numerous leadership positions, including interim executive director of the Florida Association of Food Banks, vice president at the Atlanta Community Food Bank and CEO of National Linen Service. Richard is past chairman of the board of the Atlanta Community Food Bank and former board member of the Georgia Mountain Food Bank. He is a graduate of Harvard Business School and the University of Waterloo in Canada. Richard is married and has two grown children.

Steven Soucy
Chief Financial OfficerSteve has over 25 years of financial experience in both public and corporate accounting. Prior to joining the Harry Chapin Food Bank in October 2017, Steve was the vice president of finance for a manufacturing company in New Hampshire and prior to that he was the director of finance for Bostik Inc. He is a CPA and has a master’s degree in business administration from Southern New Hampshire University.

Kari Lefort
Director of ProgramsKari moved from Massachusetts to Southwest Florida to accept a position with the Harry Chapin Food Bank in August 2014. She worked with non-profit organizations including Horizons for Homeless Children, Advocates Inc., and Catholic Charities for 15 years. Kari received a bachelor’s degree in social work from Evangel University in Missouri and a master’s degree in social work from Florida State University.

Anna Suarez
Director of Human Resources, Administration and VolunteersAnna has been director of human resources and administration since May of 2017. In January of 2019, she also assumed responsibility for the volunteer operation. Prior to becoming an employee, Anna worked with the HCFB HR Committee through the board of directors since 2013.
Prior to joining the food bank, Anna spent 22 years with the Gannett Company where she worked in human resources and other roles. She has a long history of community service in Southwest Florida, the Space Coast, upstate New York and the Midwest. Anna received her bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University and her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Wisconsin. She is a native of Peru, is married and has four grown children.

Development

Greg Clancy
MAJOR GIFTS OFFICERGreg joined the staff of the Harry Chapin Food Bank in January of 2017 after relocating to Florida from Massachusetts. Prior to getting involved in food bank fundraising, Greg worked for five years in development in the education sector, which was a welcome change from his 20-year career in commercial real estate in the greater Boston area. He holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies – chemistry from Middlebury College.

John Kuhn
Special Events ManagerThis “almost native” (his family moved here when he was a child), has worked for minor league baseball teams (most recently the Fort Myers Miracle) in positions that include team president, general manager and minority owner. He began volunteering at the food bank in 2012 before taking his current role in 2017.

Marketing and Communications ManagerMary joined the food bank in September 2015. Previously, she served more than 20 years as a reporter for Gannett newspapers, first at the Niagara Gazette in Niagara Falls, NY, and then at The News-Press in Fort Myers. Ryan Uhler
Social Media & Online Services CoordinatorRyan moved to Cape Coral from East Islip, NY, in 2001 to attend Florida Gulf Coast University. Harry Chapin was a household name in Long Island, N.Y., and his humanitarian work was well known in the community. Ryan found the same thing was true when he made the 1,287-mile move south. Ryan joined the food bank in March 2016. He has a bachelor’s degree in communications with a minor in marketing.

Monica Monahan
GRANTS MANAGERMonica has been with the Harry Chapin Food Bank for five years and has worked in the nonprofit world for more than 40 years. She began writing grants in 1990 in Ohio to secure funding for children’s social service programs focusing on the high-risk youth population. Over the years, she has successfully procured federal, state, and local grants totaling in excess of $10 million. They include grants from the Florida Department of Education, Ohio Department of Juvenile Justice, United Way organizations, community foundations, Feeding America, and the Naples Children & Education Foundation, founders of the Naples Winter Wine Festival. Monica received her master’s degree from Bowling Green State University in Ohio and is proud to be a Buckeye!

Meg Madzar
EVENT AND FOOD DRIVE COORDINATORMeg is a Massachusetts native, who was excited to join the non-profit world after 15 years in the private sector. Starting in March 2012 as a coordinator for the capital campaign, she now manages events and food drives. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Madison, and the University of Southampton, England she is proud to work alongside so many caring board members, fellow staff, and donors in the Southwest Florida community.

Annie Noel
Senior Programs ManagerAnnie moved to Florida in December 2004. Prior to receiving her bachelor’s degree in social work from Florida Gulf Coast University, she worked in healthcare for over 20 years in intensive care, emergency room, medical/surgical, geriatric psychiatry and memory care units as a nursing assistant. Annie joined the food bank as the commodity supplemental food program coordinator in April 2017.

Dennis Hall
Warehouse ManagerDennis Hall and his wife moved to Southwest Florida after five years of vacationing in Cape Coral. Dennis was an assistant warehouse manager for a large dairy in Pennsylvania before joining the food bank. He also brings 20 years of experience coaching youth sports, including football, basketball, baseball and softball.

Mike Davis
Retail Logistics ManagerMike joined the food bank in 2015 as a driver and now manages the transportation and logistics for our fleet of trucks and two cargo vans. He knows the Harry Chapin Food Bank service area as well as his own backyard. A native of Battle Creek, Mich., he moved to the area in 2005. He has a Commercial Driver License and training in automotive mechanics. Mike is also a big motorcycle enthusiast.

Chris Robinson
Procurement ManagerChris came to the food bank as part of the Volunteers In Service To America Program (VISTA) in November 2008, assigned to the Fresh Foods Rescue Project. His responsibilities included fostering relationships with local farmers, growers and packers to secure donations of fresh fruits and vegetables for people in need. Today, Chris works under the director of operations. He manages all food purchasing and food sourcing. Originally from Columbus, Ohio, he moved to Cape Coral with his family in 2008 to escape the cold winters.

Melissa Hughery
FOOD DISTRIBUTION MANAGERMelissa is a Fort Myers native. She joined the food bank in 2008 as a volunteer and in 2009 became part of the Operations Department team. Melissa first started in Agency Services, and she now manages food distribution and order processing. Melissa loves dancing and binge-watching movies.

Systems

Kevin Maloney
Systems ManagerKevin is an IT professional with 15-plus years of experience covering everything from development to systems integrations. He holds a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems from Florida Gulf Coast University, and his talents have led him to speak nationally on a variety of topics, ranging from analytics to security. Kevin joined the food bank in 2012 and manages all technology-related systems. A New England native, Kevin moved to Florida in the 1990s, yet still has a love of the snow.

Damon Pappalardo
Continuous Improvement ManagerDamon is a Fort Myers native, a proud University of Florida Gator graduate, and worked for many years running Hertz branches at multiple five-diamond hotels in Orlando. He came to the food bank as a volunteer for the programs department over two years ago. Not long after, he was hired as the programs data coordinator. He was recently promoted to the position of continuous improvement manager, where he is working to improve the processes and workflows throughout all food bank departments.

Lori Harrington
VOLUNTEER CHAMPIONBorn and raised in Minnesota, Lori moved to Florida in May of 2019 looking for warmer weather and sandy beaches. Prior to joining the food bank she worked for Nutrition Consultants, a company that helps businesses prepare for specialized certifications such as Gluten Free, Kosher and NON-GMO. Along with the Research and Development of new products. She has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Hospitality Management.
